The Downtown Canton Special Improvement District is a nonprofit corporation that provides programming to preserve the economic well being of downtown Canton. The SID is dedicated to preserving the aesthetic, architectural, and historic character of the downtown area. The organization is funded by special assessments on downtown property owners.

We manage the magnificent Cultural Center for the Arts. Our Grants Program awards over $1 million annually to 75 Stark County non-profits. We develop public art projects that revitalize downtowns and neighborhoods. We fund partnerships between schools and arts organizations to supercharge learning (SmArts). In May 2009, we raised $1,451, 000 – the highest amount ever for the annual Arts Campaign: The Fund for ArtsinStark. Our mission is “growing the arts to create smarter kids, new jobs, and healthier communities.”
